Police nab notorious cultist
A notorious cultist whose members have been terrorising residents of Mushin in Lagos has been arrested by the police.
Twenty-year-old Oworoba Abdul Kareem was arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) after he and members of his gang stoned policemen who were drafted to quell a cult clash in Mushin at the weekend.
The cultists were said to have smashed the windscreens of two police patrol vehicles drafted to the area.
Though no life was lost in the clash, a police source said several people were wounded. The source said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was from the Eiye confraternity group.
Commander of the RRS, Assistant Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu, who confirmed the arrest, warned parents and guardians to monitor their wards and children.
He added that residents should be courageous enough to report any suspicious movement and criminal activities to the police, promising that the police would act accordingly and timely.
He said the suspect had been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for investigation.
