WACOT partners USAID, others on agricultural productivity


The West African Cotton Company Limited (WACOT), an agricultural input company in Nigeria, has said that, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and other agencies, it developed programmes that would increase farmers’ income. 
In a statement issued in Kano, WACOT said that in partnership with Competitive Africa Rice Initiative, USAID markets and PropCom Maikarfi, it had designed various initiatives to increase profitability in the agricultural sector in Nigeria, particularly among the rural farmers through integrated approach.
The statement, signed by its head of Farming and Plantations, West
Africa, Mr. Reji George, stated that the company had been supporting different social and economic initiatives for farmers in Nigeria, particularly those in the northern part of the country. It added that partnership with different international agencies had enabled the company to embark on different projects.
Some of the projects include health awareness camps, self-help group formation and capacity building, among others that are either directly or indirectly related to strengthening agricultural value chain processes.
