Fighting War On Two Fronts Has Not Been Easy – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said it has not been easy fighting Boko Haram insurgents in the northeast and oil theft in the south-south of the country.
According to The Punch, the president made this statement when he received the president of Togo, Faure Gnassingbe in Abuja yesterday, September 10.
Buhari appreciated the visit of the Togolese president who’s visit hinged on concerns for regional security. He said Nigeria was fighting on many fronts but providing infrastructure was still paramount alongside the war against corruption.
He said Gnassingbe had called for a summit on maritime security which was an indication of his concern for security.
“His concern about regional security made it imperative for him to organise a summit on maritime security and development in November to examine a lot of issues.
“As for Nigeria, we are grateful for the sympathy and the goodwill expressed, touching on the performance of our armed forces and law enforcement agencies, since this administration came into being. It is not easy trying to fight on so many fronts, the North-East, the South-South and then try to provide infrastructure in our country.”
President Buhari expressed satisfaction in the effort of regional countries to curb insurgency and said it was already obvious that peace was being achieved.
Gnassingbe had earlier mentioned that the security summit scheduled for November in Lome would look into the menace of piracy which he said was costing the nation money. He added that the summit would also examine the problems of piracy, oil theft, environmental pollution, immigration as well as human and drug trafficking.
Vice president Yemi Osinbajo also agreed that security was paramount in Nigeria and added that the country was at the fore front of combating insurgency in Africa. He said due to this,
